Aim To divert young people away from crime and antisocial behaviour through fishing

A leading youth justice charity has teamed up with a local authority to offer fishing courses in a bid to divert young people from crime.

Nacro's Reading Angling Project is an Entry to Employment programme run by the charity in partnership with Reading Borough Council.

During the 12-week course, teenagers learn to fish in the countryside around the town. In addition the programme uses angling as a theme to help young people improve their literacy and numeracy skills.

The groups also take part in angling and environmental-based work experience.
