Young people were also asked whether they thought they were creative themselves. More than seven in 10 young people in the Northwest, which scored highest, said they were, compared with just over six in 10 in Yorkshire, the lowest figure in the country.
Sara Teiger is a freelance marketing officer for the Step Up youth arts festival based in the Northwest. Step Up celebrates its fifth anniversary this July when 1,000 young people from across Cumbria, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside will take part in creative activities.
"The festival has gone from strength to strength; young people are definitely being more creative," she said. The Noise survey found that one in five young people spends more than 11 hours a week engaged in creative activities.
