Northern Ireland: Youth services to deliver guidance

Youth information, advice and guidance are currently delivered through schools, but the action plan for Northern Ireland's 10-year children and young people's strategy, due out this autumn, will transfer this responsibility to the youth service.

"Youth services will provide things to do and places to go, as well as information, advice and guidance," said Eagle.

The country's education and library boards, which house youth services, will be amalgamated into one by 2008. A working group set up to feed into the review of public services recently submitted its report on the future of youth services, but the minister is yet to see it.
