Over the next two years, Northern Ireland will be preparing for its biggest restructuring of public services in more than three decades.
And the fact that two-thirds of the responses to the consultation on the Review of Public Administration were focused on education or youth work shows the importance these changes are seen to have for young people (YPN, 30 November-6 December, p6).
The most significant change affecting youth services - the replacement of the country's five education and library boards, which previously housed the youth service, with a single education authority - has met with a mixed reaction.
