Northern Ireland: Commissioner to lobby government

The former Lagan Valley Member of the Legislative Assembly for the Social Democratic and Labour Party started work this week. She aims to build on the work of the first commissioner, Nigel Williams, who died in April last year. She told Young People Now she also aims to focus on ensuring young people's voices are heard.

Lewsley said: "My area of concern is whether young people will lose services in Northern Ireland's current review of public administration."

Lewsley said she also intends to lobby children's minister Maria Eagle on the action plan for Northern Ireland's 10-year children's strategy.
