Northampton: Fire service to work with young people

1 min read

The scheme will start by taking on 40 young people in Daventry and Northampton in May and will expand in the summer.

Firefighters from Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue will educate young people about fire prevention as well as teaching them how to tackle an imaginary fire in the fire station's training tower. Clubs for Young People Northamptonshire trained the firefighters in youth work and will also supply youth workers for the scheme, who will take the young people on visits to other fire training projects and police and ambulance stations.

Participants can join the scheme at 13 and stay until they are 18.
