North Huyton area children's centres manager, Barbara Kelly, says: "It is so important that people feel the centres provide what they want and what they need to give them and their children the best opportunities."
Has it been successful? The centres all provide child and family health services, weekend dads' groups, support to return to work and help for parents wishing to access adult education. The co-operation between the centres and local families has now been recognised by the Knowsley Partnership Standards kite mark. "This award is a tribute to the involvement we have had with them and the changes we have made, following what they have told us," adds Kelly.
