NCB NOW: Young people trained as researchers

1 min read
Four students from Islington Green School in London have completed an NCB training course to become young researchers.

Hadjar Karkar, Georgina Laing, Elena Miller, all 15, and Anita Odozi, 16, took part in the training as part of a new NCB initiative to involve young people in research projects. The course covered a range of topics including confidentiality issues, equal opportunities and the use of open questions during research.

For their first assignment, the young researchers will facilitate a series of focus groups on involving children in the work of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. They will also work on other consultation initiatives run by NCB.

"Doing the training has already improved my listening skills," said Anita Odozi. "I think this is a great project because we could really make a difference."
