NCB Now: Young people speak out on drug use

1 min read
Four young people involved in an NCB participation project shared their views on substance misuse at a major national drugs conference in March.

The young people belong to an 18-strong advisory group which is feeding into the Government's National Drugs Strategy. NCB was commissioned to run the project, which is aimed at 14 to 19-year-olds, by the Home Office, DfES and the Department of Health.

Jermaine Clarke, 16, and youth worker Ben Ryan, 20, gave the keynote speech at the third annual national Drugscope conference, outlining how drugs can affect young people and what can be done to address the issue at national and community level.

Along with Jordan Christian and Janine Ford, both 16, Jermaine and Ben also ran a workshop on participation which delegates described as 'inspiring'.
