NCB Now: Voice for disabled children

1 min read
Making Ourselves Heard (MOH) is a national project based within the Council for Disabled Children (CDC), which promotes the active participation of disabled children and young people in all decisions that affect their lives.

A recent report by MOH suggests that disabled children and young people are currently an invisible group in society and the more complex their needs, the more invisible they appear to become.

MOH wanted to challenge this by creating a young ambassadors group that would support disabled children to develop skills and voice their opinions about key issues that affect them. MOH also wanted to increase opportunities for disabled children's voices to influence the work of CDC.

Young people from the CDC steering group were heavily involved in the recruitment process to select members for the young ambassadors, and provide the link between the ambassadors and the CDC steering group.
