NCB Now: The search for a common language

Is it possible to find a common language to help parents and professionals dealing with disabled children communicate more effectively? This was the question asked at a workshop organised by NCB earlier this month.

The workshop was part of a DfES project to improve communication about and with children with disabilities.

It was held at the Methodist International Centre in London and attended by parents and professionals.

A similar exercise involving disabled children is planned.

Hosted by NCB's Dr Ruth Sinclair and Dr Nicola Madge, with support from John Rowlands, DfES, the workshop aimed to identify the best words to use in multi-agency work with disabled children.
