NCB Now: Training in common assessment praised

NCB's new training course in May was designed to help practitioners understand and use the Common Assessment Framework effectively.

It was a big success, with positive feedback from delegates.

"The course was clear and well presented. I will definitely pass on theinformation I learned to colleagues," said one participant, whileanother commented: "The material was really useful, focusing on simplelanguage and achievable goals."

Participants were introduced to effective methods of analysinginformation, and the importance of using an analytical approach forassessment.

Ruth Dalzell, family support manager, NCB, said: "The trainingencourages professionals to take an active role in identifying the needsof children, working with them and their families to agree what supportor services might be appropriate, rather than just what resources happento be available.We hope it will improve integrated working and earlieridentification of needs."
