NCB Now: The route to positive outcomes

1 min read
The Life Routes programme was set up to help vulnerable young people in deprived areas of the UK develop the life skills necessary for personal, emotional and social development and achieve the Every Child Matters outcomes.

Life Routes is an innovative life skills programme for vulnerable young people aged 11 to 19. It aims to build their self-confidence and awareness of their own potential.

Emphasis is placed on developing the necessary life skills for personal, emotional and social development, such as decision-making, problem-solving, risk assessment, teamwork, communication, responsibility and managing emotions. These skills will help young people discover where their strengths lie and what their future impact might be within their wider community.

Life Routes works through a network of local programmes in the four government regions identified as having the highest indices of deprivation: the North East, the North West, Yorkshire and Humber and Greater London. Regional co-ordinators support local practitioners to develop creative projects for young people.
