NCB Now: Two centres of excellence launched

1 min read
After successful pilot programmes, two projects have become centres of excellence for Life Routes.

PitStop in Halifax, West Yorkshire, is a charity that works with the most disadvantaged young people in the area through alternative education programmes. The pilot used a variety of projects to help participants develop life skills. The centre is now looking to embed the Life Routes ethos across its whole structure.

Another successful pilot has been completed in the North West in partnership with the Canal Boat Adventure Project in Halton, which was designed to complement a local school's curriculum. The project enabled young people to spend a period of time away from school to focus on building skills such as independent living, team building and problem-solving. The activities were designed to increase self-esteem and improve attitudes to learning.
