NCB NOW: Shape media rep speaks out on crime

1 min read
Shape young media representative Graham Duffy has taken part in a documentary on youth crime, to be broadcast on BBC Radio 1 on Monday.

The programme will examine whether factors such as peer pressure and the media are contributing towards a rise in violent crime among young people. Graham, 16, will give his views as a young expert on youth crime issues.

NCB is a founder member of Shape: children's lives and the youth crime debate, a coalition which also includes the children's charities Barnardo's, the Children's Society, NCH and NSPCC, and the crime reduction charity NACRO. It aims to raise the level of the debate around youth crime.

Graham is one of nine young media representatives trained by Shape to give young people's perspectives on the issue. In the last six months, Shape's young spokespeople have appeared on BBC Breakfast, Newsround and the Jonathan Dimbleby Programme, as well as carrying out numerous press and radio interviews. They have also taken part in filming for Panorama, to be broadcast in February.
