NCB Now: Pupils say it's more than just listening

1 min read
A new video produced by NCB in partnership with the Peer Support Forum, Healthy Schools and the Kosh highlights the importance of participation in school life.

It's more than just listening! features children and young people talking about participation and exploring the many ways in which it can improve school life, both for the individual and the whole school.

One of the pupils involved in the video commented: "Participation can accomplish a lot of things and make a pupil's life more easy and more comfortable around the school environment."

Another pupil went on to say: "It's about more than listening - it's when you talk to someone, they listen and then someone actually does something about it, they act."

"Participation is an essential element of citizenship, which should be taught through all key stages at school," said Simon Blake, assistant director of Children's Development at NCB. "Teachers can use this video as a starting point for discussing participation with children and young people. It can also be used during training in schools."
