NCB Now: Promoting the importance of play

1 min read
Play England and the Early Childhood Forum (ECF) have produced a free leaflet to highlight how and why play is such a vital part of early childhood.

The leaflet explains how critical play is to children's healthy growth, wellbeing, creativity and ability to learn. It will be distributed in Nursery World magazine, as well as being available to download from the NCB website.

ECF is a coalition of 53 professional associations, voluntary organisations and interest groups united in their concern for the care and education of young children from birth to eight years old.

Part funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families and co-ordinated by NCB, ECF brings together partners in the early years sector to champion quality services and experiences for children.

Play England have also published the book Free Play in Early Childhood, which draws on existing research and investigates the importance of giving children the time, space and resources to play in their own way, without the influence of adults structuring activities.
