Over the next 15 months Ellis will be working with 14 local authorities to increase the confidence of social services staff in involving children in assessment practice.
Seminars will be held throughout the year, allowing project participants to identify good practice and explore ways of working collaboratively.
Each authority will be supported in developing their own training package.
"Ensuring that practitioners communicate effectively is essential to identifying children's needs appropriately," said Ellis.
