NCB Now: Participation Unit begins a three-year project to boostcommunication skills

NCB's Participation Unit has started working on a new three-year project to develop effective communication skills in young people.

The project, Raise Your Potential, has been financed by the YoungPeople's Fund from the Big Lottery Fund. It aims to engage young peoplefrom the West Midlands in health, education and social care initiativesthat are of direct relevance to them.

A packed programme of interactive workshops and training from expertsfrom local communities is planned to train the young people infacilitation, research and working in media such as web andpublications.

Janine Shaw, head of participation at NCB said: "This project wasinitiated by Young NCB members who wanted the opportunity to gain usefulskills that could enable them to get more involved in local and nationalprojects. They will then be able to create tools for other young peopleto use in the future".
