NCB Now: A better outcome for the vulnerable

1 min read
NCB has secured funding from the DfES for a project to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and young people by building the communication skills of practitioners.

Over a two-year period, NCB's family support unit will work with senior practitioners and training officers from 16 children's services departments to increase the knowledge and confidence of staff involved in assessment practice.

The project aims to improve practice, explore knowledge sharing and promote effective communication with children who have specific needs due to disability or language problems.

"Enabling practitioners to carry out effective assessment practice is essential to ensuring vulnerable children receive a better outcome from social services," said Ruth Dalzell, family support lead at NCB. "We hope that this project will result in an increased commitment within the participating departments to practice that is more inclusive of children and young people."
