NCB Now: Primary care trusts are challenged

The Every Disabled Child Matters campaign, based at NCB, is challenging primary care trusts to sign up to a new campaign charter, which prioritises health services for disabled children and young people in England.

Many families with disabled children struggle to access good-quality, timely health services. Four out of five families report that they are still in need of vital equipment from their primary care trust.

The Charter sets out nine commitments to sign up to by January 2009, including identifying a children's lead with specific responsibility for disabled children and demonstrating effective partnerships - both with local authority partners and adult service providers.

- For more information, or to lobby your PCT to sign up, visit www.edcm.org.uk/pct_charter.
