To make disabled children a priority locally, EDCM has created Charters for every local authority and primary care trust (PCT) in England to sign up to. The Charters are a set of voluntary commitments to provide a range of services for disabled children and their families, and to prioritise disabled children in planning.
The Local Authority Charter was launched a year ago, and EDCM is delighted that 50 of 150 local authorities in England have signed up. Many thanks go to the 27,000 EDCM supporters who have lobbied their local councillors to sign the Charter.
The PCT Charter was launched last month to give local health authorities in England a way to show their commitment to disabled children and a number of PCTs have already shown an interest in signing up.
