Supporting parents' engagement in their children's learning is an effective way to make a real difference to children's lives, as parents are a child's first and most enduring educators.
To support practitioners to encourage and develop parental involvement in children's early learning, Parents, Early Years and Learning (PEAL) based at NCB, has produced training and resources based on the key elements of the PEAL model; authentic relationships, communication and partnership.
PEAL training supports early years practitioners in their work with young children, families and in their outreach work with parents. It focuses on parental support for children's learning through building positive relationships between parents and early years settings. Originally commissioned in 2004 by the government, it has been rolled out to thousands of practitioners and local authority staff across England as part of the Early Learning Partnerships (ELP) programme.
