1 min read
The Parents, Early Years and Learning project (Peal) has received additional funds from the workforce development strand of the Department for Education and Skills Early Learning Partnerships programme.

Peal, led by NCB, Coram Family and the London Borough of Camden, delivers training to practitioners to encourage parental involvement inearly learning and development. The model is based on research evidencethat parents are a child's first, and most enduring, educators and bysupporting the parental contribution to children's learning we can makea real difference to children's educational and social outcomes.

This second phase will begin with a new round of training, which will beoffered to children's centre practitioners between June 2007 and March2008. The first three events will take place on June 7 in Southampton,June 19 in Brighton and July 4 in London.

The training will also be adapted and delivered to a wider variety ofearly years settings, childminders and to some local authorities. Pealwill also be gathering more examples of innovative practice to publishas part of the training material.
