NCB Now: Peal project launches publication

1 min read
A new book, Parents as Partners in the Early Years Foundation Stage - Principles into Practice, marks the culmination of the Parents, Early Years and Learning (Peal) project.

Peal, previously funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families, provides training and accreditation, encouraging practitioners to work in genuine partnership with parents by sharing educational practice and building parents' confidence as their child's first and most enduring educators. Parents as Partners provides a valuable framework, examining the evidence base and outlining the principles, requirements and guidance on working with parents.

Children's laureate Michael Rosen will talk about the value of parents participating in their children's learning, with particular emphasis on reading, at the book's private launch next month.

Helen Wheeler, co-author of Parents as Partners, says: "The book pulls together the key messages, practice examples and learning from Peal, making it available to a wider audience. The publication is timely as it supports the delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage, which requires all early years settings to work in genuine partnership with parents and support learning at home from birth to five.
