Support for young parents

Wales has the highest teenage pregnancy rate in western Europe. There is a strong association between teenage pregnancy and disadvantage and this is often transmitted down to the next generation.

Having children at a very young age has been shown to lead to poorer social, economic and health outcomes for children as they grow older. Support for teenage parents is thus essential to avoid these outcomes and break the cycle.

Children in Wales is holding an information day to highlight various strategies for engaging and supporting young parents. Delegates will learn about what works and share good practice.
