Early years workforce joins the debate

"Join the debate" was the message for early years service providers in Scotland, as specialists from across Europe met this month in Edinburgh for a seminar examining diversity in disability, gender, race and culture in early years provision.

Children in Scotland chief executive Bronwen Cohen said: "Early years services can play a crucial role in promoting social inclusion. The most significant variable is the workforce and how well qualified and supported they are to work effectively with children, families and communities."

Children in Scotland, which hosted the seminar, has also launched a community webspace to make it easy for practitioners to join the debate on the role of the early years workforce.
