In his speech, Sir Paul offered some guidance for the new Childhood and Families Taskforce, which will bring together the policies of the Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives to create a new manifesto. He drew on NCB's experience of establishing partnerships to give advice on making the partnership work by getting beneath the surface of policies and avoiding quick wins. Further, he outlined themes for the taskforce including, focusing on protecting the most vulnerable, the importance of early intervention and promoting the empowerment of young people.
Sarah Teather announced plans for a review of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), during her key note address, which was welcomed by NCB. Sue Owen, director of wellbeing at NCB, said: "We hope this review is a chance to dispel some of the underlying myths surrounding EYFS and give a serious look at some of the issues that have arisen since its implementation."
