SDP has been running for six months and is designed to help young people gain the right experiences, confidence and skills to increase their employability.
The celebration was an opportunity to hear from some of the young people about their experiences of the programme. At the event, Karim Manzi, who was employed as an e-publishing assistant at NCB, spoke about the experience he has gained. Karim said: "The support, understanding and patience was fantastic, not only from my immediate team, but SDP management, my colleagues and managers."
Many of the young people involved in the first round of the programme are currently pursuing or have secured jobs, with others deciding to enter further education. Vanessa Kemp, skills development manager, said: "It has been rewarding to see young people develop their skills. We are now beginning to see the outcomes of the programme as many of the young people move into employment and further education."
