The Children's Trust, Tadworth
Every year around 10 per cent of babies born in the UK need highly specialised neonatal intensive care (National Audit Office) — but there is a recognised shortage of beds. Those with complex health needs who are unable to go home straight away may remain in hospital longer than required while community resources are being sourced.
The Children's Trust, Tadworth is using its decade of expertise in working with children who are technology-dependent to help them to make the transition home. At the same time they are empowering parents to resume the role of "mummy" and "daddy" while their child's clinical needs are looked after, and giving the child the chance to enjoy their childhood with play and therapy not always available in a hospital setting. The Children's Trust, Tadworth provides care, education, therapy and rehabilitation to children with multiple disabilities, complex health needs and acquired brain injury and the combination of services offered by The Children's Trust is unique.
