A year after their GCSE results soared above the national average for the first time, schools across Hackney have unveiled another set of record-breaking exam results. Hackney is above the national average for GCSEs for the second year in a row, with around 55 per cent of students achieving five or more GCSE results at A*-C, including maths and English.

Just eight years ago, when the Learning Trust took over responsibility for education in Hackney from Hackney Council, only 30 per cent of students gained 5 A*-C grades. Now, this figure, which doesn't necessarily include maths and English, is around 70 per cent.
