NCB Now: Member Focus - The National Autistic Society

Our best practice "The National Autistic Society is the UK's leading charity for people with autistic spectrum disorders and their families and provides a wide range of services to help people on the autistic spectrum live with as much independence as possible.

"When a child is diagnosed with autism the need for early intervention is key. The society was instrumental in contributing to the Government's recently published Early Support Programme Family Pack.

We also run early years programmes such as EarlyBird and help! which support parents in understanding how autism affects their child.

"Other services include a helpline, an advocacy for education service and a befriending scheme, as well as six non profit-making schools and colleges for students across the spectrum.

"The society continues to lobby the Government to ensure the interests of those with autism are fairly represented."
