In On It is an e-learning project designed to provide positive, enriching and stimulating learning experiences for children and young people without a school place, especially those experiencing barriers to their learning. In On It was designed around the needs of children who are out of school, with the pilot phase was supported by Becta, National Union of Teachers, Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, London Grid for Learning and a number of London authorities.
The learning resources are designed for learners right across key stages and ages. The materials, all linked to the National Curriculum, are rich in imagery and other media so that even those learners with very low levels of literacy can access the resources. Based on a thinking skills pedagogy, the framework helps students to improve their approach to learning while developing their curriculum knowledge and skills.
