"Since 2002 the Family Planning Association (fpa) has provided a community-based education programme in England called Speakeasy. Through weekly workshops the programme enables participants to develop the confidence and skills needed to provide positive sex education in the home.
"Speakeasy operates in key areas of social and economic disadvantage and has proved highly successful in empowering parents and improving family relationships. Research shows children from families that talk about sex and relationships are more likely to use contraception when they first have sex. At fpa we believe all parents and carers should have access to Speakeasy which is why it has been made the focus of our special anniversary appeal.
