In 2007, Family Links pioneered an adapted version of the Nurturing Programme for young people aged 11 to 18 and their parents. The youth offending team in Richmond, Greater London trialled the course with eight young people and their parents, who worked both separately and together. By the end of the course, three young people had been removed from the child protection register. One mother who took part said: "I developed a better understanding of my child's different feelings and moods."
The variety of training programmes aims to enhance workforce skills by creating parent group leaders in both statutory and voluntary sectors. These leaders offer training to help professionals reach parents, children and young people more effectively.
