Contact a Family has created a two-hour workshop for children's centres to run with parents of disabled children. The workshop is fun and easy for parents to participate in and can be easily adapted for local circumstances.
Agencies are sometimes reluctant to carry out this type of exercise, in case parents ask for items they cannot deliver. To avoid this happening, the workshop focuses thinking on areas that can be improved with minimal costs, or where there is a cost implication, they are asked to prioritise. The workshop also provides professionals the opportunity to gain more insight into the type of problems these families face.
