"Having published Be My Parent, a family finding newspaper, for 25 years, the British Association for Adoption & Fostering (BAAF) will spend the next two years setting up a project to use the powers of the internet to find more foster carers and adoptive parents.
"During a feasibility study we reviewed UK and US web sites profiling children and found they contained out-of-date profiles and used sensitive information inappropriately.
"A survey of local authorities, voluntary adoption agencies, children and birth family members and Be My Parent subscribers found support for exploring every avenue to find permanent families for children, while putting sufficient safeguards in place.
