British Association for Adoption & Fostering to recruit adopting champions

1 min read Social Care
The British Association for Adoption & Fostering (BAAF) is looking to recruit "adopting champions" to take part in local campaigning.

Both adoptive parents and those that have been adopted are being invited to spearhead campaigns encouraging families to adopt.

A focus will be campaign work during National Adoption Week (1 to 7 November). Activities are likely to include using social media networks to flag up adoption issues and organising dinner parties and coffee mornings. Only those aged over 18 can become an adoption champion.

David Holmes, BAAF chief executive, said: "We did some research that showed word of mouth is the biggest influencing factor in getting people to adopt. We know that adoptive parents already talk and influence others in their community informally. This scheme is a way to celebrate and support these unrecognised champions of adoption."
