NCB Now: Looked-after children's art exhibition

1 min read
An exhibition celebrating the creative talents of a group of looked-after children and young people was launched at the National Gallery on 26 October.

The two-week exhibition in TheSpace@NG at the National Gallery will showcase a variety of artwork created by children and young people aged six to 19 from eight projects across the country, in Calderdale, Herefordshire, Hertfordshire, Hull, Lincolnshire, Telford and Wrekin, Walsall and the National Gallery, London.

Young people from each project attended the celebratory launch to display their installations, which range from a book of poetry to a wishing tree.

Margaret Hodge, minister for children and young people, spoke about the benefits of participation in creative arts and play, while 18-year-old Stephen Holroyd, from the Calderdale group, talked about his experience as an artist mentor for other young people.
