NCB Now: Local areas improve on transition

A key objective of the Transition Support Programme (TSP) is to ensure that all transition support meets baseline minimum standards.

The transition to adulthood for disabled young people continues to challenge local areas, however with the current focus on this agenda, local areas have the opportunity to make significant progress in supporting disabled young people to reach their potential.

The National Transition Support Team (NTST) and its partners are working locally and regionally to help areas improve their support and build on the good practice already taking place. Across England, there are local areas with a considerable range of projects and transition work under way. As part of the £19m investment in transition, 13 local authorities were awarded an additional £37,500 in 2008 to develop their transition support.
