This third issue focuses on the local information on transitionavailable for young people and their families, and looks at protocols indifferent authorities.
"The transition to adulthood should be a time of challenges andcelebrations for any young person, but for disabled young people this isnot always the case because the support they need is unavailable," saidHelen Wheatley, senior development officer at the Council.
"With Getting A Life we hope to give practitioners an overview ofinnovative practice, policy and legislation to enable them to supportyoung people."
The Council for Disabled Children is currently mapping transitionprovision around the country, and is looking for examples of initiativeswhich are improving the transition process for disabled young people, orcreating successful multi-agency partnerships.
