NCB Now: Home learning key to development

The home learning environment has a greater impact upon children's development than parents' occupation, education level or income.

This finding is behind a training pack being designed by the ParentalCommunity Support Project, a joint initiative between NCB, Coram Familyand the London Borough of Camden.

The project, which is funded by the Department for Education and Skills, aims to produce a good practice model showing how to involve parentsliving in disadvantaged areas in their children's learning. The packwill support a course for practitioners, which will provide participantswith the skills to work in partnership with parents.

The project team is keen to hear from practitioners with expertise toshare.
