NCB Now: Bereavement seminars planned

The Childhood Bereavement Network, based at NCB, is to hold a series of eight regional seminars to explore ways of supporting parents and carers of bereaved children.

The seminars, aimed at those working with bereaved families, will betaking place across the country between 20 March and 5 May in London,Milton Keynes, Leeds, Newcastle-on-Tyne, Birmingham, Exeter, Nottinghamand Liverpool.

Participants will be able to try a new, free training resource for thoseworking with the parents and carers of bereaved children under five,based on the animated film Not Too Young to Grieve. They will also havethe chance to discuss issues of confidentiality in relation to youngpeople accessing services.

"Through our regional seminars we hope to enable those in the field toshare ideas and learn from each other," said Alison Penny, the network'sco-ordinator. "The events will be helpful for those planning to set upservices, as well as practitioners in existing services."
