NCB Now: Child bereavement conference

1 min read
A recent NCB research study conducted on behalf of the Childhood Bereavement Network (CBN) revealed that children who have been bereaved of a parent, sibling or friend are significantly more likely to have experienced a range of other difficult experiences in life than children who have not been bereaved.

In order to enhance understanding of childhood bereavement in the children's sector, CBN, in partnership with 11 Million, the office of the children's commissioner for England, will host a conference in Birmingham in February entitled Childhood Bereavement: Telling the Story. The conference will hear lessons from research about the stories bereaved children tell about their past, present and future, and how careful listening to these stories can improve the support available to them. It will also focus on the specific needs of bereaved Gypsy and Traveller children and explore the negative and positive aspects of bereaved families' stories being told in the media.
