The CFA aims to give children more of a voice in football, while increasing the participation of girls, children with disabilities or mental health issues, children from deprived areas, and those from black and minority ethnic backgrounds. It also aims to reverse the overall decline of children playing football and tackle childhood obesity. The alliance is in the final planning stages and will open up to members shortly, and the NCB fundraising team is actively seeking funds to take forward the plans.
There are also plans afoot to get more children and young people involved in sports and fundraising after the successful participation of Young NCB members in the Asics 10k London Run last July. Young NCB's new co-ordinator Nick Snow will be working closely with the fundraising team to encourage further young participants in 2010.
