Lara Stanley and Helen Davies of EDCM explain how it was developed and the response it has had from politicians.
Fringe events at the Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat party conferences saw the launch of the EDCM Disabled Children's Manifesto for Change, a publication developed in partnership with disabled children and young people outlining key messages and challenges for politicians to increase support, participation and respect for disabled young people.
Over the summer, disabled young people led a consultation of their peers to establish the key policy changes they want government to commit to. The responses led to the development of the manifesto. Along with an accompanying film, developed by disabled young people to detail their experiences of equality, independent living and access to services and education, the manifesto was presented at the EDCM fringe meetings run in partnership with the Family Fund.
