Our specialists come from diverse career backgrounds and are able to share their experiences of working with health authorities, refugee agencies and in education settings. This, along with materials that are underpinned by clear theoretical frameworks and evidence of effectiveness, offer participants a reflective experience.
ECU specialists learn with and from the varied mix of participants, taking an approach based on exploration of principles and values, and supported by materials adapted to meet the needs across the children's workforce.
One example is the Parents, Early Years and Learning (Peal) training, originally designed and delivered to early years practitioners such as nursery staff in children's centres but it is now attended by a broad range of practitioners including health professionals, family support and outreach workers. Integrated approaches towards meeting the needs of children and their families have been promoted in order to engage with all families, following the learning from, for example, the Families at Risk Review Reaching out: Think Families.
