NCB Now: Comment - Building on success

VCS Engage has made great progress in helping to increase the capacity and profile of voluntary and community sector organisations, but we know that more needs to be done to strengthen the position of the sector and ensure its full engagement in the national framework.

While the VCS Engage programme will not continue in its current form, the consortium members are committed to embedding the learning gained through the programme, and building on the foundations to secure the increased involvement of the voluntary and community sector in the Every Child Matters agenda.

NCB has received funding from the Department for Children, Schools and Families and will build on the success of the programme through the continued delivery of high-quality training and support for the sector. It will take time for the Government's ambitions for the voluntary and community sector to become fully embedded into practice, and the process will need dedicated ongoing support from all partners, including national, regional and the voluntary and community sector itself.
