NCB Now: Celebrities help out with Money Week

1 min read
The first ever My Money Week was launched on Monday 29 June with activities at schools nationwide to teach children and young people the importance of money and equip them with financial management skills.

NCB is a member of the consortium delivering the three-year government-funded My Money project. Young NCB members are acting as advisers to the programme and helped kick the week off with a presentation followed by a question and answer session with ministers.

Using toolkits filled with fun activities, interviews and messages about personal finance from celebrities including Olympic medallist Sir Chris Hoy, singer Mutya Buena and girl group The Saturdays, teachers will help children and young people think about what money means to them, and how to manage it.

Fergus Crow, assistant director of wellbeing at NCB said: "This is important work - but it can also be fun. It engages children and young people in thinking about money and how it relates to their lives. The materials are already starting conversations in classrooms across the country."
