NCB Now: Advisers to help steer youth finance project

1 min read
Twelve young people aged 11 to 16 have been selected to act as advisers to support My Money, a project aimed at improving young people's financial capability as part of their personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education.

Funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families, My Money seeks to ensure all secondary school students learn how to manage their money and achieve economic wellbeing. The project will be run by a consortium that includes NCB, the PSHE Association, EDComms and the Personal Finance Education Group.

NCB will co-ordinate the Young Advisers Group and ensure its ideas determine the overall direction of My Money. The young advisers will meet three times a year for a two-day residential to generate ideas and help evaluate the project through resources such as Young NCB, focus groups, questionnaires, events and web-based research. The meetings also aim to help young advisers develop leadership and social skills - as well as provide a chance to relax and have fun.
